Ladies
 Porters Park has a thriving ladies section of about 100 playing members about
60 of whom play regularly on a Tuesday, with a Competition each week. Handicaps range from 3 – 36 and the age
range is very varied.. We compete each year in the Pearson against other clubs in Hertfordshire with the
winning team going forward to play against the winners from Kent, Surrey and Middlesex, PPGC last won this in
1997. On a lighter note, there are opportunities to play surrounding courses with our friendly match
fixtures.
As well as the golf we do have a strong bridge section and league.
BUSINESS LADIES
We have approximately 22 business ladies who play their competitions at the weekend and have the opportunity to
play cup competitions on a Tuesday if they so wish. At the end of the season they compete for the Business Ladies
Cup. They are a friendly group of ladies who enjoy their golf.
SCRATCH TEAM
We have two teams in the league – A and B – not many clubs have two teams. There are 5 ladies in each team,
playing off scratch, competing against other clubs in Hertfordshire for the Ovaltine Cup.
LADIES ACADEMY
We have run an Academy for two years for ladies who have not played golf before or those who would like to come
back to the game. They have group lessons with the Pro. David Gleeson (beginners and intermediates). When David
feels they are competent enough to play the course he will recommend them to join the Academy which entitles
applicants to 12 rounds of 9 holes of golf after 5pm for a two month period. There is then the option to join PPGC
subject to the usual interviews and play-ins.
Next Ladies Academy Event - Saturday 9 May 2009 at 2pm
Tea & coffee will be served at our meet & greet session at 2pm, followed by a free group lesson with
Club Professional David Gleeson.
A glass of wine will be served after the lesson in the Club House.
There will be an option on the day to sign up for a further 6 group lessons for £60.
Academy Membership is offered to Ladies wishing to progress their golf, once course approved, for £50. This
entitles Lady Golfers to 12 rounds of 9 holes of golf after 5pm within a two month period. There is then the option
to join Porters Park Golf Club subject to the usual interviews and play-ins.
